Building a Bridal Business with Heart
This conversation on the Engage Your Brand podcast was such a fun one!
We probably could have kept going for hours, talking about branding, bridal alterations, business growth, community, and all the little in-between parts that make this work so meaningful.
One of the things I shared in the episode is that I did not get into the wedding industry with some big master plan.
Like so many of us, I found my way here one step at a time.
I started out as a choir teacher, sewing on the side, taking in whatever work I could get, and slowly building my confidence and skills. Eventually, that led me into bridal alterations- and once I got there, something just clicked.
Because it was never only about the dress. It was about the brides, the experience, and creating a space where someone feels cared for, celebrated, and completely taken care of in such an important season of life.
And honestly? That’s still my favorite part!
We also talked a lot about branding and marketing in this episode, and I think this is such an important reminder: your brand does not need to be loud to be powerful.
It needs to be clear.
It needs to feel like you.
And it needs to connect.
That’s true whether you’re serving brides in your fittings room or building something bigger behind the scenes. The more specific and aligned you get, the easier it becomes for the right people to find you, trust you, and connect with what you do.
That’s been true in my bridal alterations business, and it’s also been true with Secrets of a Bridal Seamstress.
What started as one idea turned into something so much bigger, a space where bridal seamstresses can feel seen, supported, and less alone.
Because if we’re being honest, this industry of bridal sewing can be isolating.
You can be incredibly talented and still feel unsure about pricing, scheduling, boundaries, burnout, growth… all of it.
That’s a huge part of why this work matters to me so much.
I want seamstresses to know they do not have to build their businesses alone.
And I think that’s one of the reasons this conversation was so fun- it wasn’t just about strategy. It was about the heart behind the business, the reality of growing something over time, and the beauty of building a business that supports your life instead of running it.
I absolutely LOVE to see women thriving in their own unique business, building a brand that represents their dreams and values- and in SBS, that means with a little more support, a little more clarity, and a lot more confidence.
If you’d love a behind-the-scenes peek into my story, my brands, and the heart behind both Sweet Francis and SBS, go listen to the full episode.
